Welcome to Rod’s Lathables bringing the past and present together. I am about saving history through re-purposing old lumber and vintage material. Making something “aged,” new again! I like expressing history through art, by combining a variety of materials including, but not limited to, old lath, glass, barn lumber, metals and cloth. Discovering the treasures of our past, brings eye appealing art designs for your decorating pleasures.
IT’S “5 O’clock Somewhere” clock with The Great Black Swamp Brewing Co. bottle. The Great Black Swamp Brewery was established in 2009 in Toledo, Ohio. For more information on this Brewery Google “The Great Black Swamp Brewery”.
I use as much reclaimed wood as possible in all my wall hangings, lighting and art. Lath covered with plaster was used well into the fifty’s for interior walls. The lath in this wall hanging came from the summer home of the owners of the Huebner Brewery Company located at the corner of Hamilton and Division Street in Toledo, Ohio. The summer home is located on River Rd. near Waterville, Ohio. Thanks to the new owners of this summer home built in 1902 I am able to share with you this history through reclaimed lath in my art creation. This glass cross designed by “Ebenezer Glass“ and embedded into 100 year old lath has an elegance and charm of it’s own. Statement peace, “I BELIEVE”
The lath in this wall hanging came from the summer home of the Huebner Brewery Company located at the corner of Hamilton and Division St. in Toledo, Ohio. The summer home is located on River Rd. near Whitehouse, Ohio. Thanks to the new owners of this summer home built in 1902 I was able to reclaim this lath during a resent kitchen renovation to use in my own creations. You may Google “Huebner Brewery” for more history of the family and their business.
